His work moves between precise observation of the visible world, painterly construction and the deliberate dissolution of familiar pictorial structures.
ditArdo
Comic Cubism · Painting
An independent visual position in which comics, Cubism and spatial illusion converge, making different levels of time and perception visible at once.
ditArdo is an artistic position developed by Diethard Sohn.
Collaborative Practice
Two artists.
Three positions.
One shared space for thought.
Irene Müller and Diethard Sohn have worked in a shared studio in Stuttgart since 2011. They founded the Müller & Sohn label in 2015.
Under the name Müller & Sohn, they create collaborative projects, works, actions and exhibitions. At the same time, their individual bodies of work and artistic positions remain distinct.
The friction between different working methods is productive. Sometimes one initiates an idea and the other develops it further. Sometimes works emerge in parallel. Sometimes both artists work directly on the same piece.
Authorship itself thus becomes part of the experiment.

Experimental Setup
Many projects leave the traditional studio behind. Landscapes are traversed, measured and marked. Photography, film, painting and sculpture accompany open-ended processes.
Nature appears neither as a mere motif nor as a romantic backdrop. It becomes a counterpart and, at times, an actor in its own right.
